Our Story/Who We Are

Formerly a solo practice, Adrienne Neal brings over a decade of experience as a counselor and sport psychology consultant. We work with athletes of all sports ranging from youth to NCAA and Olympic levels, but you don’t have to be an athlete to benefit from our work together. In fact, we can't have performance or health without a healthy mind.  At PEAK, use a host of research-based and effective techniques to move those we work with toward their goals; whatever it involves improved performance or working through emotional, relational, or other psychological difficulties. PEAK emphasizes forming a unique partnership with each individual or organization we work with, as that together we can accomplish so much more.
Adrienne also regularly contributes to sites like Believe in the Run in addition to STACK sports magazine and other top blogs including The Huffington Post. Other projects include assisting in continuing education curriculum development for the Board of Certification of Athletic Trainers. As lifelong athlete, Adrienne like to pair her experience in sport with my work to help each individual work to become the best version of themselves. Everyone is pursuing a different PEAK, why go it alone?

MARIA LACKEY LPC-A

Maria Lackey is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) and Community Educator/Trainer for a family violence crisis center. Although Sport Psychology, Maria believes the mental component of athletics too often goes unaddressed and should be catered to just as much as (if not more than) the physical component. Also, she believes developing healthy cognitive and behavioral skills is not only the fundamental part of performance excellence; but is also the building block of maintaining overall well-being.

In addition to managing the education/outreach program for Focusing Families, she conducts individual and group therapy sessions for clients.

Originally from Atlanta, GA, Maria came to TX in 2013 to attend Prairie View A&M University, where she competed at the Division 1 collegiate level as a tennis athlete playing both singles and doubles from 2013-2017. She holds a BA in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University.

Maria is passionate about Sports Psychology because she personally experienced mental barriers to performance excellence inside and outside of sport. She desires to help athletes overcome some of the mental obstacles that surface from competition and life. One of Maria’s goals in Sport Psychology is to steward her experiences as an athlete and clinical expertise to assist athletes in performing at their desired level in their sport and in their personal lives through practical and effective tools. She can be contacted at lackeymaria4@gmail.com
